Welcome
Welcome to the inaugural issue of Tech News and Notes. You will see this newsletter 2-3 times a month with news on products from manufacturers who are represented by Kerry O’Connell through The Aegis Array and through The Sales Group.
IWCE
IWCE 2023 showed signs of getting back to normal after a few years of Covid impacts. The turnout was the most we’ve seen in at least three years (one of those years being virtual), and there were lots of public safety partners who were showing on the exhibitor floor. It was great to be back.
I hope that those of you who attended didn’t have your return travel plans interrupted like I did. I had two flights canceled on my way home. Ended up staying overnight in Salt Lake City and then flying into a nearby airport instead. I was glad I found a flight that arrived within a few hours of home, otherwise I could have been wandering around the airport for another couple of days. Or driven home, which was becoming a serious option.
All of the manufacturers I’m reporting on below, I represent through The Sales Group. So please don’t be confused, I use two different emails for my rep business. Anything I can do to help, be sure to email (Kerry.OConnell@TheAegisArray.com or Kerry@TheSalesGroup.com) or call me at 406-932-6172.
Wireless Supply
Wireless Supply has grown rapidly in recent years. They provide antennas, cable, fiber, connectors, modular rack systems, splitters, combiners, and most any other passive product you need.
They announced at IWCE that they now have moved into providing BDAs. TruPath is a giant leap for BDA installers. The price is attractive. The option of ordering in a kit that can be installed in 15-30 minutes can be a game changer.

TruPath BDAs are available in single or dual band; 1/2 or 2 watt; Class A or Class B. Currently available only for 700 or 800 MHz with UHF models expected late this year. Let me know what you need and I can send you pricing. If you or someone you know is looking at installing a BDA project, you’ll want to price this out before you make your final decision. Wireless Supply introduced it at IWCE and they were inundated with requests for quotes for kits.
InterTalk
The Sales Group has recently added InterTalk Radio Consoles to our list of manufacturers. It was time to move away from our previous radio console provider and InterTalk provides an excellent solution. They offer software-based or hardware-based solutions, and even have a cloud solution. It’s up to you which one fits your needs.
InterTalk has the tech support you’ve been hoping for. They even listen when you need something special. They will be at APCO in August if you want to take a look, or call me for a web demo to see if they would be right for your application.
NexTek
NexTek provides EMC compliance solutions for various Wireless RF customers in the form of coaxial RF lightning & surge protection and high current feedthrough filters. Their booth at IWCE was very popular with attendees.
If you have a communications site project, you’ll want to take a look at the pricing for their surge protectors. One of the most popular units is is their PTI-BB50 series, use the selector tool at the bottom of the page to choose your connector type. This unit covers frequencies between 1.5 and 1,000 MHZ and replaces three different units offered by the competition.
Call me if you want to learn more and I’ll set up a webinar where you can ask your questions. NexTek is not a new company, having been in business since 1986. Most of those years they have spent concentrating on the military market.
The best part? All their parts are designed and manufactured in the USA, AND don’t cost any more than those made overseas.
‘Til Next Time
The dogs are demanding that I get away from the computer, so I’ll see you next time.
